Well, I am home from my amazing trip to the South of Carolina; over-exhausted, jet lagged, and experiencing the melodrama of bringing a child on and off board.
No one ever told me that bringing a child onto a plane was double the work, (and double the fun, right).
South Carolina was as expected. Southern hospitality was up too par, and I never heard "sir" and "m'am" so much. It became a part of my everyday jargon, and I came back to SLC airport thinking I was a southern belle. The humidity and heat made all efforts of doing my hair, and makeup to a minimum. The heat pretty much just melted my make-up off, and made the pony tail holder a new fashion.
My husband has completed his BTC, and I couldn't be any more happier for the hub. During the graduation, the completed soldiers come out of the north woods, and into the clearing onto the field. Seeing him (after three months) was a since of relief, and the ebb and flow of tears came running. We had to make a dash to the field and find "our" soldier in a graduating class of 1500. I came through the wave like a mad cow on wheels, manuevering my daughter and her stroller like a white roller coaster.
This exprience of the woods and clearing reminded me of a stanza from Frost's poem "Stopping By The Woods on A Snowy Evening,"
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there's some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
Did Frost intend to inspire the young soldier caming out of a woods to see his family? Did he know that the little wife in the stands needed this moment to regain hope? Perhaps, not, but as a wife and mother I know I have so many "promises to keep" in adjusting to this divine life, and the miles ahead are a clear, mist ahead of us.
What's up next for our little family? B will be completing his AIT (next job) and language testing in Monterey for a few more weeks. He will be learning Pashto (an Indo-European, Iranian language) for the next year and a half. Only a few more weeks until our family reunites again, but I'll take the next few over the month's duration anytime. The rest will follow.
Oh, just like my readers to know...Shh, this is our little secret, but I am pregnant again. Two in one year? Wow, I never would have thought ;) Is this my dream of "twins" coming true?
