The Grey Lady and...

The kiddos have shown a large interest in picture books lately. When we visit our public library, the kids usually run through, grabs whichever books in sight, stuffs them in the library bag, and jets off to the play area. I make sure to look through them, and see if it's age appropriate, and add a few more of my own liking.

I never have gravitated toward pictures books. It's not that I don't like them. I just don't think about it, because I'm the one doing the reading, so I choose books with words. As I was browsing the Caldecott section, I came across "The Grey Lady and the Strawberry Snatcher." When I was skimming through, I thought the blue strawberry image of the snatcher was a bit erie. I decided to take it home because it's berry season, and just to see how the kids would perceive it. You guess right. They loved it.

They bring this book to me a few times throughout the day. Darling daughter loves watching the Grey lady disappear from the Strawberry snatcher. She loves creating her own commentary to the book. The son loves pointing at the berries, and going mmmmm. He finds the story more comical than his sister.
