I have been wanting to make an advent calendar for some time. I really loved the idea of this one. However, with the pace of my beginning crocheting skills, and the time I allotted with the project, Christmas would have been over.
I flipped though my stack of holiday magazines, and saw this particular advent idea. I had a bolt of muslin fabric I had scored at Goodwill. I sewed up some simple drawstring bags, made a few pom-poms, and used whatever ribbon I had laying around.
I am still deciding if I want to to add the numbered buttons to sacks, but I'm happy with how painless this advent calendar was.
We have a mantel, but I decided to hang it somewhere a little higher. My kids would eat all 31 pieces in one day.
