A Children's Mix
I created a happy-go-lucky, 8track, children's mix that is not streamlined chipper, but something this mama could listen to for hours without going crazy.
"Let's Go To Work" by Kira Willey
"Quite Early Morning" by Pete Seeger
"Keep On The Sunny Side" by Elizabeth Mitchell
"That's What Friends Are For" Frances England
"Polly Wolly Doodle" by Dan Zanes & Sheryll Crow
"Big Rock Candy Mountain" by Elizabeth Mitchell & Lisa Loeb
"You Are My Sunshine" Randy Kaplan
"Friday, I'm in Love" Rockabye Baby!
Enjoy.

A Truer Life
A contemplative week. Trying to not fall back on old follies. Watering seeds. Snacking on these. Finding comfort in dress shirts, a pair of rickety canvas sneakers, and the mom bun hair-do. Outdoor reading. A lot of poetry.
Poem:
"Song of a Man Who Has Come Through" by D.H. Lawerence
Music:
The Civil Wars
Book:
Ten Poems to Last a Lifetime by Roger Housden

"We are (in a way) looking for inconsistency of product, so your tastebuds are not just enjoying the sensuality of it. You are also learning, your brain is learning while you eat it." [Rick Mast]
Speaking of food, my name appeared in the letters section (page 12) of this month's Vegetarian Times. I like to read letters to the editor, because I like to see the love/hate comments that readers will reveal about the food featured, and unbeknownst to me, I spotted my name. It's the little things, friends, the little things.
This was the recipe I was raving about.
Happy New Year's Day.

Pin Interest
A designer friend of mine (ahem, Mireya) told me about Pin Interest. I am in love! Drag all your inspiration/pictures/projects, and keep them organized. Go and see what I am loving, and talking about, and add me if you want.

Viernes
Last night, I had one of those evenings that make hair pulling necessary. My children went to bed screaming, and crying up until the big hand read midnight. The husband and I bickered before he headed off to work, and no apologies were exchanged. Most of my evenings usually end with light reading, studying something, a classic/foreign movie, and relaxation-- the enlightenment phase as I see fit. Last night, I had the privity of eating two plates of cheese fries, watching past episodes of Project Runway, and Star Trek (yes, the 2009 J.J. Abrams version).
This morning, I woke up with the daughter's foot in my face, a little boy who had crawled into my arms(gesturing for me to scratch his back most of the morning) and a husband who somehow manage to puzzle himself in-between the craziness, but slept like a log.
I was not in the state or position in wanting to move, because everyone was a sleep. Silence is what my frazzled brain needed. My hand maneuvered itself to find the clicker, and I found myself watching old morning cartoons.
Tex Avery must have known what I needed. This is how I will always see "Largo Al Factotum". Watch closely at 3:10 and 3:25, the segue into those characters is dime, laughable, and quite charming.
